The Killing line by Robert Riddle

The Killing line

The Killing line losing time.
Shadow shackles on my legs.
Life and love would be just fine
If there were no yesterday.

My eyes see far behind me.
But the horizon shaded blank.
Tragic views in mirrors
Evoking loathing more
than I can take.

Hoping relief will beat out fear.
Reliving my own mistakes.
Nursing a battered heart.
Sometimes life and love are fake.

Watching my hopes and dreams recede.
Wondering if I will survive.
I would stab my heart and bleed.
Just to show that I'm alive.
